Facade and Tenant Improvement Grant Small business owners and property owners applied for up to $25,000 through the City of Oakland’s expanded and updated Facade and Tenant Improvement Program to improve the exterior and interior of their commercial properties.
Sidewalk Café Permit Sidewalk cafés are temporary, open-air seating areas that help create vibrant streets. Establishment of a sidewalk café is subject to approval by the Department of Transportation (DOT), zoning review, and the issuance of all required building permits.
