In support of the Integrated Preparedness Plan and the training/exercise goals of the City of Oakland’s CERT cadre, this project will host a series of trainings and tabletop exercises leading to the April 28, 2024 Full-Scale C-POD Exercise. The trainings and exercises will encompass both CORE DSW-V participants and DSW City Staff to create a realistic deployment scenario, distributing real goods to the community at a TYPE III (pedestrian) Commodity Point Of Distribution (C-POD) site.
Through this exercise, EMSD’s community engagement goal is to increase general hazard awareness and promote the availability of both community emergency preparedness and response training offered through the City of Oakland’s CORE Program. After this exercise, we hope to see an increase in both our Personal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training registrations.
Event Type: Volunteer / Community Service
