The next BPAC meeting is January 17th, 6:00-8:00pm, in Hearing Room 4. In addition to procedural items, the agenda includes nominations and elections for the new BPAPC Chair and Vice Chair, time for commissioner transitions and appointments to committees, presentations on the DOT pre-budget and strategic plan check in, an organizational update, sidewalk repairs, and the 19th St. BART station / Uptown Bike Station. Oakland's Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) was established on February 4, 2014, to advise the City Council on programs and projects related to walking and bicycling. The first meeting of the Commission was on September 18, 2014. Every meeting is open to the public, so feel free to drop on by! There is an open forum at the beginning of each meeting when members of the public may comment on any issue within BPAC’s subject matter jurisdiction.
The duties of the BPAC according to its establishing ordinance are:
- Review and advise on proposed projects for Transportation Development Act Article 3 funding;
- Provide input to staff on the expenditure of Measure B Bicycle & Pedestrian Pass-through funds;
- Provide input to staff in the implementation of the Bicycle Master Plan, the Pedestrian Master Plan, and other related Plans;
- Identify projects and plans that are pertinent to the Commission's purpose and prioritize those projects and plans for design review by the Commission.
