30-day Comment Period on OWDB Draft Local Plan Modifications – Through Monday, March 11, the Oakland Workforce Development Board (OWDB) is asking for public comment on the Draft 2017-2020 Local Plan Biennial Modifications. The Modifications focus on enhancing workforce opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; Child Support clients; CalFresh Employment and Training recipients; and English Language Learners, Foreign Born and Refugees clients. The Draft Plan Modifications were informed by insight gained at stakeholder meetings held in November 2018 by OWDB, with the Alameda County Workforce Development Board and EastBay Works Coordinator. At these November meetings, the Alameda County Social Services Agency, Alameda County Department of Child Support Services and the California Department of Rehabilitation each provided an overview of their respective workforce programs that support the target populations. To encourage comment on the Draft Local Plan Modifications, OWDB is hosting a Listening Session to provide a forum for public comment on:
- Wednesday, February 27, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Oakland City Hall, Hearing Room 1
1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland CA 94612
For those who are unable to attend the free, public Listening Session, there are three additional ways to submit your comments:
- Use the online comment form at https://www.oaklandca.gov/services/owdb-draft-local-plan-modifications
- Send your comments via email to owdb@oaklandca.gov
- Mail your written comments to Oakland Workforce Development Board, City of Oakland, Attn: Lazandra Dial, 250 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Suite 3315, Oakland CA 94612.
All comments must be received by March 11, 2019. Comments received by the deadline will be sent along with the Draft Local Plan to the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) on March 15. The Local Plan is not final until it is reviewed by the CWDB and signed by Mayor Libby Schaaf. The signed Local Plan is due to CWDB in August.
