On May 8, 2019, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) will hear and vote on nine (9) New Business items recommended for approval. They include: The “We Run Oakland For Our Daughters” Charity Walk/Run sponsored by A Sista’s Touch at Lakeside Park (Pergola) on Saturday, June 1, 2019; two bench dedications in memory of C.F. Tung; a bench dedication in memory of Victor McElhaney; a gift-in-place project from Backboard for the basketball courts at FMS Recreation Center; Department of Transportation and Oakland Public Works ADA Programs proposed adaptive bike share pilot programs at Snow Park, Lakeside Park, and the Bay Trail; Electric Vehicle Charge Network Program at Jack London Aquatic Center, the East Oakland Sports Center, and deFremery Park; the Friends the Oakland Municipal Band (FOMB) event at the Edoff Memorial Bandstand at Lakeside Park on July 4, 14, 21,28, and August 4, 2019; the Annual Jamaican American Independence Picnic Celebration on July 4, 2019 in Joaquin Miller Park, sponsored by the Jamaican American Association of Northern California (JAANC); and the 7th Annual Panafrican Family Reunion At Mosswood Park on September 1, 2019, sponsored by Afrocentric Oakland. Three Consent items will be approved by the PRAC including Burger Boogaloo, Oakland Carnival and Eastside Arts Alliance.
