Survey on art, historical markers, greenery, and lighting
We have the opportunity to integrate culture, history, and greenery on 7th Street between Mandela Parkway and MLK Jr. Way. In addition to meeting with West Oakland community members in-person and online, we also developed a survey to reach more West Oakland neighbors. We want to know about your preferences for trees, shrubs, art, historical markers, and lighting as well as where they should be placed on 7th Street. Please take the survey by clicking on the link below. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.
Come see us in-person!
Come out to the National Night Out Community Party! This event will be on Tuesday, August 6 at 5-7pm at DeFremery Park in West Oakland. City of Oakland Department of Transportation staff will be there to share information about several upcoming transportation projects in West Oakland. Staff will share information about the 7th Street Connection Project, West Oakland 14th Street Project, and Embarcadero West Rail Safety and Access Improvements. We hope to see you there!
Racial Equity Impact Analysis of 7th Street
We have also completed the first draft of a Racial Equity Impact Analysis. This analysis looks at the history of the project area and more recent data to uncover racial disparities. It also recommends strategies to address disparities and outlines next steps. We will continue working with the West Oakland community to get feedback on this Racial Equity Impact Analysis, and we’re excited to hear what you think.

Updated design for Filbert Street/7th Street intersection
The 7th Street Connection Project now includes a new traffic signal at the Filbert Street/7th Street intersection! We want to thank the community members along 7th Street who provided feedback about this intersection. As a result of this feedback, the project team conducted additional traffic studies and updated the design to include more robust safety measures. The new design will also be more accessible to persons with disabilities. Check out the new rendering of the project below!
