Armed Individual Safely Taken into Custody
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a report of an individual who brandished a firearm. The incident occurred just before 1:00 p.m. on July 8, 2024, in the 700 block of High Street. The victim notified OPD Communications Division, that an individual pointed a firearm at them and was in a vehicle in the area.
In response to the report, OPD helicopter (ARGUS) was dispatched to locate the vehicle connected with the armed individual. ARGUS followed the vehicle to the 6400 block of San Leandro Street, where ground units conducted an enforcement stop and detained the driver and the passenger.
During the investigation, officers determined that the passenger was responsible for brandishing the firearm at the victim. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded firearm with a filed-off serial number and suspected narcotics. The individual was taken into custody for multiple charges.
