Battle of the Badges raises $3,000 for Oakland Police Activities League
The inaugural “Battle of the Badges” softball tournament to raise money for the Oakland Police Activities League (PAL) was a huge success, as the four-team tourney raised an impressive $3,000 for Oakland youth.
Retired OPD Officer and PAL Director Margaret Dixon threw out the honorary first pitch at the game in October.
Participating teams include the Oakland Police Department (OPD), the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, the Oakland Fire Department (OFD), and the Alameda County Fire Department.
When it was all said and done, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office walked away with the 2023 Battle of the Badge title by defeating the Alameda County Fire Department in the final game.
All proceeds were made possible through generous contributions from the Oakland Police Officers Sports Association, the Oakland-Alameda County-Emeryville Firefighters Charity Fund, and the Deputy Sheriffs Association of Alameda County.
A heartfelt thank you to the friends and families who supported the cause through their donations and the Oakland A’s for providing the Coliseum in support of PAL.
