City of Oakland Launches OAK APPS Portal
Oakland, CA — The Information Technology Department (ITD) is pleased to announce the launch of OAK APPS. A user-friendly web-based portal for accessing resident facing applications, OAK APPS will complement the newly released OAKLANDCA.GOV website by aggregating access to multiple City services.
OAK APPS offers residents secure and private access to participating City programs and services. With one OAK APPS account, users can sign into multiple applications and eliminate the need to provide duplicate login information for different resources.
“There are so many different programs and resources available to residents through many different City Departments, I thought it would be great to have a central location to easily find resources without having to scour the website and log in multiple times,” said Chief Information Officer Andrew “Pete” Peterson. “OAK APPS will eventually allow the City to digitally communicate more effectively by proactively informing residents of relevant services and programs,” he continued.
The central goal of the recent launch of OAK APPS is to enhance the digital experience for residents, hopefully enabling residents to take more control of the local government services they use. Residents are encouraged to visit the portal at https://apps.oaklandca.gov/ to register and begin using the service as soon as possible. In future releases of OAK APPS more single-sign-on functionality will be added, and residents will be able to access multiple City services and support with one credential, alleviating the need to maintain several accounts for City services.
"Technology can be a powerful tool capable of increasing civic engagement and supporting broader equity goals for residents. By reducing complication and time spent accessing City services, our hope is to de-stress the experience and free-up time for residents" said Mr. Peterson.
