OPD NEWS:

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on November 18th, 2021, just before 4:00 PM near the intersection of Plymouth Avenue and 90th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle and ATV had been involved in a collision.

The Oakland Fire Department and Falck Ambulance arrived at the scene and rendered emergency aid. The ATV rider was transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained from the collision. On December 19, 2021, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The deceased is 29-year-old, Oakland resident, Travon Baker.

The vehicle driver is a 46-year-old female Oakland resident who remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle traveled eastbound in the 8900 block of Plymouth Street and the ATV rider traveled northbound in the 1600 block of 90th Avenue. It appears the ATV rider failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and collided into the passenger side of the vehicle. The ATV rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.

This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit at (510) 777-8570.
