On January 09, 2021, at approximately 9:54 PM, the Oakland Police Department responded to the 1200 block of 7th Avenue on reports of a person down in the street after an assault. Officers arrived on the scene and located a male adult (Hayward resident) with trauma. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
