Homicide Investigation in the 5700 block of Trask Street

On November 18, 2020, at approximately 8:38 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Trask Street regarding a Shot Spotter activation followed by reports of a person shot.

On November 18, 2020, at approximately 8:38 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Trask Street regarding a Shot Spotter activation followed by reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult Hayward resident, suffering from a gunshot wound. Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew additionally responded to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
