On September 26, 2020, at approximately 9:46 pm, the Oakland Police Department responded to the 700 block of Center Street on a ShotSpotter activation. Officers conducted a search of the area for possible victims.
At 9:52 p.m., Oakland Police Officers located a stalled SUV on Interstate 880, southbound lanes with a male San Francisco resident, passenger suffering from a gunshot wound. The passenger succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a male- San Francisco resident, flagged down a paramedic ambulance and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, it was determined the occupants of the SUV were shot in the 700 block of Center Street associated with the ShotSpotter activation.
Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
