The City of Oakland Department of Transportation (OakDOT) is working to make it easier to find parking in Chinatown. OakDOT staff have studied parking demand in Chinatown and have developed two zones that reflect demand for parking spaces: Value Zones and Premium Zones. Value Zones will be priced $1.50 or $2.00 per hour depending on time of day, and Premium Zones will be $2.00 or $2.50 depending on time of day (see this flyer for more information).
The new zones and parking rates are set to take effect on-street on August 29, 2022. Temporary signs will be posted on each block on the morning that the new meter rates take effect. New off-street garage rates took effect in April 2022.
