Officers Recover a Loaded Firearm After a Shooting
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred just after 9:00 p.m. on July 8, 2024, in the 1200 block of Harrison Street. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound(s) and a second adult male victim with minor scratches. Paramedics transported the shooting victim to an area hospital, where they were last listed in stable condition.
A short time later, the OPD Communications Division received notification of a third victim, who arrived at an area hospital by private transportation. This victim was also listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in the area when several individuals approached on foot. One of the individuals was armed with a firearm and demanded the victims' belongings. During the incident, the armed individual discharged their firearm, striking one of the victims. The suspects left the area in a vehicle.
Officers located a casing and bullets and recovered a loaded firearm at the scene.
