Oakland, CA — On Thursday, November 9, 2017, the Oakland Police
Department Alcoholic Beverage Action Team (ABAT) and agents of the
California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) posted a 20-day to
Indefinite Notice of Suspension at “Sportspage Bar,” an ABC-licensed business
located in the 10000 block of Macarthur Blvd in Oakland. During the 20-day
suspension, the owner will not be able to sell any alcohol at the location.
The suspension follows a year long investigation conducted by the OPD ABAT
unit and agents from Alcoholic Beverage Control. Officers visited the location
multiple times and on two separate occasions discovered multiple violations. In
addition to the 20-day suspension, the alcohol license is suspended until a new
licensee takes control of license.
Funding for this investigation came in large part from the Grant Assistance
Program (GAP) grant, which was awarded to the ABAT unit by the Department
of Alcoholic Beverage Control to support ABAT unit enforcement operations at
Oakland liquor stores.
