OPD Arrests Three Individuals Connected to Violent Crimes
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) Ceasefire Division arrested three individuals in connection to multiple violent crimes that occurred in a neighboring city.
On May 16, 2023, officers observed occupants inside a vehicle peering into the windows of several parked vehicles in the Lake Merritt area. The vehicle pulled in and out of several business parking lots, including those of banks.
Officers recognized the vehicle as one wanted in connection with a recent homicide in another city.
Ceasefire units conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 200 block of E. 18th Street. The occupants inside of the vehicle fled on foot, however, following a brief foot pursuit, all three individuals were safely detained (two juveniles and an adult).
A firearm was recovered from the vehicle, and officers later determined the vehicle had been carjacked.
