On March 30, 2021, the Antioch Police Department requested assistance from the Oakland Police Department in apprehending two suspects who were wanted for murder in Antioch. Both suspects are believed to be connected to numerous shootings in Oakland.
For the safety of the residents and visitors of Oakland and the potential level of violence, OPD approved the use of the Emergency Rescue SUV. This deployment was necessary because both suspects are wanted for murder and the fact that firearms were used in the crime.
One suspect was taken into custody in the area of 14th and Peralta Streets. The second suspect was taken into custody in the 2200 block of 41st Avenue after barricading himself.
Antioch Police Department took custody of both suspects.
We understand when crime-related incidents occur, it causes trauma to our community. We appreciate those who came forward and reported this crime. We will continue to support our community members who were inconvenienced during this incident.
