OPD Crime Reduction Officers Recover Firearms During Suppression Investigation
Proactive policing by the Oakland Police Department (OPD) Crime Reduction Team East (CRT-East) led to the removal of multiple firearms from our streets. Just before 5:30 p.m. on October 22, 2024, officers assigned to CRT-East were conducting a violence suppression investigation in the 8000 block of International Boulevard when they observed multiple individuals in possession of firearms. Thanks to the swift and decisive actions of our officers, the individuals were safely taken into custody, and three firearms, including an AR-style rifle, were recovered.
This investigation is yet another example of the dedicated work our officers do every day to keep Oakland safe. Their ongoing commitment to reducing violence in our community continues to have a positive impact on public safety.
OPD remains committed to proactive policing to enhance public safety and will continue taking steps to prevent violence and ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
