OPD Makes Arrests in a Recent Homicide Case
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested Paula Faaui for the homicide of Julian CarilloGarcia, which occurred on August 20, 2023, in the 5800 block of Bancroft. Sariah Faaui was subsequently arrested for accessory to the murder.
Due to the relentless efforts of OPD Homicide Investigators and the Violent Crimes Operation Center, Paula Faaui and Sariah Faaui were safely taken into custody.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged Paula Faaui and Sariah Faaui with the crimes.
Background:
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred on August 20, 2023, just before 6:00 PM, in the 5800 block of Bancroft Avenue. OPD Communications Division received reports of an individual who appeared to be suffering from an unknown injury.
Officers arrived on scene and located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Medical personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Investigators from the OPD Homicide Section responded to the scene to take over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and notification to next of kin.
