OPD Officer Makes History as the First Female selected to the Tactical Operations Entry Team
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is proud to announce the addition of three new members to our Tactical Operations Entry Team.
On June 30, 2022, Police Chief LeRonne L. Armstrong and Deputy Chief Angelica Mendoza welcomed Officers Patrick Airoso, Rebecca Garcia, and Boshai Boutta as the newest members to join OPD's Tactical Operations Entry Team.
Chief Armstrong also recognized the current teams’ commitment and devotion to serving the community of Oakland.
The Tactical Operations Team is a group of elite police officers specializing in high-risk incidents such as barricaded individuals and hostage situations.
Entry Team members are responsible for resolving critical incidents while using minimal force with the intent of a safe resolution by reducing the risk of injury and loss of life to residents, fellow officers, and wanted individuals.
Chief Armstrong applauded all of the officers and highlighted the historic day by praising Officer Garcia for her hard work and dedication while serving as a role model for female officers.
Chief Armstrong also implemented a mentorship program for future Tactical Operations Team applicants. His goal is to develop and encourage officers through the rigorous process.
