OPD Seizes Vehicle Following High-Speed Flee from Officers

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating an incident where a vehicle fled from officers during an attempted enforcement stop.

On January 5, 2025, just after 8:45 PM, officers attempted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the 1300 block of 5th Street. The driver failed to yield and left the area at a high rate of speed, posing a risk to public safety.

Following the incident, OPD Traffic Section investigators authored a seizure warrant for the vehicle. On the morning of January 14, 2025, officers observed the same vehicle speeding and driving recklessly in the 1300 block of International Boulevard. A short time later, the vehicle was located unoccupied by OPD Area 3 Patrol Officers in the 1800 block of Embarcadero. Officers acted swiftly and successfully seized the vehicle.

This case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Oakland Police Department Traffic Unit at (510) 777-8570.

The OPD remains committed to ensuring the safety of Oakland residents by addressing reckless driving and holding individuals accountable for endangering public safety.
