OPD’s Increased Enforcement Leads to Arrests and Recovery of Two Firearms

As announced at a news conference on Wednesday, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) has increased enforcement efforts leading into the NBA All-Star Weekend. The enhanced efforts have already led to significant arrests for prostitution-related crimes, homicide, and robbery.

Today, officers assigned to Ceasefire made two arrests in connection with a recent armed robbery that took place in East Oakland. Officers recovered a loaded firearm, and the suspects were taken into custody as part of OPD’s ongoing efforts to combat violent crime.

On February 12, 2025, officers from the Special Resource Section (SRS) West and the Vice Unit conducted citywide investigations, resulting in the arrest of four individuals for prostitution-related offenses.

On the same evening, members of SRS East, in coordination with the United States Marshals Task Force (USMTF), arrested two individuals connected to a homicide that occurred in January 2025. Officers also recovered a loaded firearm, further ensuring public safety.

The Oakland Police Department remains dedicated to reducing crime and ensuring the safety of our neighborhoods. Investigations will continue throughout the weekend as we deploy additional units, including undercover officers and specialized teams, and our partnerships with the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
