OPD’s “Toys for the Town” Brightens Spirits Despite Rain
The rain didn't dampen the Oakland Police Department's (OPD) spirit as we hosted our second annual “Toys for the Town” holiday celebration. The event, held as part of OPD Acts of Kindness, showcased our dedication to community service and our efforts to bring holiday cheer to Oakland families.
Despite the weather, OPD provided toys and meals for almost 1,800 Oakland children and adults today. The Oakland Police Foundation sponsored the event, and the array of toys and gifts were donated by OPD staff, our community partners, faith-based organizations, the Oakland Black Officers Association, and the Latino Peace Officers Association.
The day was full of activities, with food, a funhouse, face painting, bouncy houses, and, of course, free gifts for Oakland youth.
“Toys for the Town” celebration exemplifies OPD's commitment to fostering positive relationships within the community and spreading holiday joy, rain, or shine.
A special thank you to our Santa’s and Grinch.
