The Oakland Police Department is requesting assistance from our community and media in locating a runaway person at risk due to age. Amirh Hewitt is 11 years old and was last seen October 6, 2021, at 10 PM, in the 900 block of Campbell.

The Greenlining Institute is pleased to announce grants to 10 grassroots Oakland organizations working to close the digital divide. The program, called“The Town Link,” is a partnership between Greenlining and the City of Oakland aimed at increasing internet adoption and digital literacy in communities that have lacked internet access, including communities of color and low-income neighborhoods.

The City of Oakland’s first Poet Laureate, Dr. Ayodele Nzinga, will deliver her inaugural address on Thursday, October 7, at 6 p.m. The virtual event will include opening remarks by Mayor Libby Schaaf. This celebration of Dr. Nzinga’s new role will include performances by Bay Area artists and poets. The event will be presented live on Zoom and a video recording will be posted on the City’s website.
