A recent federal court ruling regarding the nationwide eviction moratorium adopted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not change the City of Oakland’s current eviction and rent increase moratorium, which remains in effect during the COVID emergency and until rescinded by the Oakland City Council.

I took action to help provide a more transparent budget process for the City of Oakland. At the May 10, 2021, City Council meeting, I expressed concern about the lack of transparency and missing information for the public in the Mayor’s FY ’21-’23 proposed budget.

The violence started early Friday morning just before 12:45 AM. Officers responded to the 2300 block of 55th Avenue to investigate the report of a male on the ground. Once on scene officers located an unresponsive male suffering from gunshot wound(s). Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
