The City of Oakland has experienced a surge in violent crime this week. On Thursday, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) investigated 32 robberies within 24 hours. These crimes varied from armed robberies to carjackings citywide. In multiple cases, individuals used the stolen vehicles to commit additional robberies.
