Oakland, CA – The Oakland Police Department has received a grant of $97,500 from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) for a year-long program aimed at preventing the unlawful sale of alcoholic beverages, including illegal sales to minors, through special enforcement and public awareness efforts.

This week, and potentially the next several weeks, Oakland – and other cities throughout the nation – may see planned and spontaneous demonstrations in response to the 2020 general election. While we’re not aware of any specific event of concern at this time, we are providing this update in our effort to keep you informed.

On October 29, 2020, at approximately 11:50 PM, Oakland Police Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 1100 block of 62nd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male Oakland resident suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
