This week, and potentially the next several weeks, Oakland – and other cities throughout the nation – may see planned and spontaneous demonstrations in response to the 2020 general election. While we’re not aware of any specific event of concern at this time, we are providing this update in our effort to keep you informed.

On October 30th, 2020, at approx. 8:30 PM, Oakland Police Officers responded to the 1400 block of 89th Avenue on a report of a ShotSpotter.

On October 29, 2020, at approximately 11:50 PM, Oakland Police Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 1100 block of 62nd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male Oakland resident suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On October 29, 2020, at about 9:10 AM, the Oakland Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Grizzly Peak Boulevard on a report of a found body.

As part of its Project Homekey Initiative, the State of California has awarded the City of Oakland nearly $17.5 million of Project Homekey funding for two innovative housing projects that when complete, will offer 104 units of housing for people experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, including those recently released from incarceration.
