Austin, Chicago, Charlotte, and San Antonio are just a few of the nation’s major cities that are experiencing a spike in homicides. The city of Oakland is also dealing with the same issue. The Oakland Police Department reports for the month of July, 11 people lost their lives to violence in Oakland, in comparison seven people were killed in July of the previous year.

After recently receiving nearly $90 million in awards for affordable housing developments, the City of Oakland is pleased to announce additional awards totaling nearly $30 million. The new funding awards will assist in building 227 more affordable units in East and West Oakland.

Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in the homicide investigation of Jeffery Chambers. He was fatally stabbed on July 17, 2020, in the 800 block of Peralta Street. Chambers, an unsheltered Oakland resident was also known by the nickname “Lil Jeff”.
