Every year District 4 celebrates community leaders who have positively impacted their communities. I am excited to continue that tradition on Saturday February 22nd from 11:00am-1:00pm at Laurel Elementary at our FREE Annual District 4 Local Heroes event! Our offices will be hosting a virtual Small Business Town Hall on Monday, April 27th at 2 PM. The Town Hall will give District 4 businesses a chance to learn about what resources are available to them during this time, and ask questions directly to Economic and Workforce Development staff.

The Alameda County Public Health Department has formed a COVID-19 Testing Task Force to develop and implement a coordinated testing program to address disparities, ensure countywide access, and support the County’s COVID response.

All City of Oakland Head Start sites and home based services will remain closed through Sunday, May 3rd. Oakland recognized for groundbreaking work of nation’s first Cannabis Equity Program.

Today, the City of Oakland and Working Solutions, a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), announced the disbursement of emergency grants to 90 extremely low-income small businesses in Oakland to help them weather the COVID-19 crisis.

East Oakland is familiar with hardships, and the coronavirus crisis has only exacerbated the community’s long-standing problems
