Today, the City of Oakland’s Department of Transportation (OakDOT) and shared-mobility service provider Lime launched the first-ever e-scooter pilot program for riders with disabilities. The pilot features an e-scooter intended for riders who are not comfortable or unable to stand for a long time and/or have limited capacity for walking. This new accessible micro-mobility for Oakland residents with disabilities to travel and commute to work/home, run errands, and make their lives more convenient as it increases their transportation options.

"In May, Bas introduced a plan to reform Oakland’s encampment management process. Bas has vociferously backed several major policy changes, from homelessness prevention, to identifying vacant land and buildings for sanctioned encampments where the city won’t conduct evictions, to eliminating California’s rent-control-killing Costa-Hawkins Act and working with the Oakland Community Land Trust to assist renters in Oakland with buying their homes, to avoid displacement."

The City of Oakland will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, in observance of Christmas Day and Wednesday, January 1, 2020, in observance of New Year’s Day.
Police, fire and emergency services are not affected during the holidays.

Oakland’s Measure FF, a voter-enacted ballot measure passed in November 2014, provides annual increases to Oakland’s Minimum Wage based on the local Consumer Price Index (CPI). Effective January 1, 2020, the rate rises 34¢, from $13.80 to $14.14 per hour. The law also requires that employers inform employees of the increase by December 15, 2019.
