The City of Oakland continues to experience an increase of people operating dirt bikes and ATVs recklessly throughout Oakland, specifically at Lake Merritt. On June 6, 2021, Oakland Police Officers supporting traffic control witnessed multiple individuals carelessly riding dirt bikes in the 2200 block of Lakeshore Avenue.

The Oakland Police Department has seen carjackings more than double this year. As of Sunday, there were 200 carjackings in Oakland, compared to only 93 at the same time last year. Add to that, more than a half dozen carjacking robberies throughout Oakland since Monday.

The Oakland Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on May 26th, 2021, just after 12:00 PM, in the 3200 block of 35th Avenue. Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located a male adult victim, an Oakland resident, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s).

The Oakland Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on May 25th, 2021, just after 7:30 PM, in the area of 87th Avenue and E Street. Officers were driving in the area when they heard multiple gunshots. Once on scene, officers located a male juvenile victim, a Stockton resident, seated in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

The Oakland Police Department received information of a large cache of illegal fireworks. OPD’s Community Resource Officers in Areas 4 and 5, began a follow-up investigation working collaboratively with the East Palo Alto Police Department, and the Menlo Park Police Department.
