OPD Officers prevent suicide

On February 15, 2021, at about 5:19 PM, a person called the Oakland Police Department (OPD) Communication Division to report a person sitting on the ledge of a 10-story parking garage rocking back and forth. Upon arrival, officers found an individual with half their body hanging over the ledge of the structure in 200 block of 23rd Street.

10th and MLK 2 15 2021

On February 15th, 2021, at approx. 6:04 PM, Oakland Police Officers responded to the 600 block of 10th Street on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male Oakland resident suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital and succumbed to his injuries.

On February 14th, 2021, at about 7 PM, the Oakland Police Department received a report of a deceased male inside a tent at Mosswood Park. Oakland PD Officers located the male and found him deceased with traumatic injuries.

Chief Armstrong 1

On February 8, 2021, Mayor Libby Schaaf and Oakland Police Chair Regina Jackson swore-in LeRonne Armstrong as Chief of the Oakland Police Department. Chief Armstrong was born and raised in West Oakland, California, and is a graduate of McClymonds High School.

Homicide Investigation

On January 26, 2021, at approximately 8:32 PM, Oakland Police Officers were dispatched to the 7800 block of Bancroft Avenue to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult (Oakland resident) suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s).

On January 18, 2021, at approximately 6:01 AM, Oakland Police officers were dispatched to the 10200 block San Leandro Street to investigate a report of an auto collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian, who was unconscious and lying in the street.
