Oakland’s Mayor Sheng Thao has asked current Oakland Public Works Director G. Harold Duffey and former Interim City Administrator Steven Falk to serve as Interim City Administrators after current Administrator Ed Reiskin steps away at the end of this month. The appointments have been sent to the Oakland City Council for its consideration next week.

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) continues to see an uptick in robberies of mail carriers throughout the city of Oakland. The most recent incident occurred on December 22, 2022, in the 3500 block of Wilson Avenue shortly after 2:00 PM.

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a negligent discharge of a firearm that occurred on January 10, 2023, just before 7:45 PM, in the 3000 block of Broadmoor View. Patrol officers were dispatched to the area to investigate reports of multiple gunshots. As units arrived on scene, the gunshots continued.
