Oakland Housing Element draft ch1 4 37

The draft General Plan Housing Element outlines the strategies and policies the City will implement over the next eight years in order to meet Oakland’s housing needs. The Housing Element was last updated in 2015 and is now being updated with public input to reflect the recent housing opportunities, challenges, and approaches that have emerged in the Oakland community, as well as to comply with new state laws.

OPD News Release

This past weekend, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) saw a spike in armed robberies. On Friday, there were seven robberies and two carjackings citywide in Oakland. The next day the city experienced nine additional robberies, one attempted robbery, and a carjacking. On Sunday, there were four robberies, one carjacking, and one attempted carjacking. In most of the crimes, individuals were armed with either a knife or a firearm.

Sideshow recovery May 22 8

Illegal Sideshow activity across the Bay Area had Oakland Police Department (OPD) Officers working into the early morning hours on Friday. OPD Helicopter (ARGUS) was overhead when hundreds of vehicles drove along Interstate 580 Thursday night. Once the caravan arrived in Oakland, there were upwards of 350 vehicles.

The Department of Violence Prevention, in partnership with Urban Peace Movement (UPM), Hoover-Foster Resident Action Council, Khadafy Washington Foundation, Family Bridges, TRYBE, Inc., Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ), Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (BOSS), Adamika Village, Family Bridges, Basic Ministry, Black Cultural Zone, and Homies Empowerment is co-sponsoring the 2022 Town Nights events at nine (9) locations across the City of Oakland!
