The City of Oakland has been legally directed to suspend the requirement that all newly constructed buildings be all-electric as per Oakland Municipal Code 15.37

 

On December 15, 2020, Oakland City Council voted to adopt legislation requiring all newly-constructed buildings to be all-electric, except for attached Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).

Each of these changes go into effect July 2, 2020, with two exceptions, which were adopted and made effective immediately.
