Ceasefire suburban damage

As members of the Oakland Police Department’s Ceasefire Division attempted to arrest armed individuals connected to robberies and carjackings, two individuals in a stolen vehicle used it to ram OPD’s marked patrol vehicle and Emergency Rescue SUV, causing severe damage (pictured above).

Following a call for qualifications in November, the Cultural Strategists-in-Government (CSIG) Program has announced the initial cohort of artists and cultural practitioners who will bring new perspectives and creative thinking to help City staff address some of Oakland’s greatest problems together with the City’s diverse communities. Four Strategists have been selected, and the application deadline for six additional project slots has been extended to Monday, February 28, at 5 p.m.

Gateway Montage

The City has completed its public improvement work at the Gateway Industrial District (formally the Oakland Army Base) and has facilitated the development of four new buildings that now house various warehousing, distribution, repair and maritime-related logistics businesses.
