Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department would like to make the public aware of an attempted sexual assault that occurred on October 9, 2020, at approximately 7:50 AM, in the 700 block of Prospect Avenue.
The victim is a 70-year-old woman, who reported that while she was outside her residence, she was approached by a stranger/suspect. The suspect attempted to lure her with a $100.00 bill. The victim began walking back towards her front door when the suspect grabbed her from behind, forced her to the ground, and attempted to sexually assault the victim. While on the ground, the victim was able to scream and fight the suspect, which led him to flee the scene on foot towards Kenwyn Road. The victim then called the police.
The victim described the suspect as an African American male, 28-30 years of age, 5’10”, medium build, medium complexion, last seen wearing a blue T-Shirt and gray pants along with a black COVID-19 style face mask. No further description at this time.
Crime Stoppers of Oakland is offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
