Emergency Rescue Vehicle Deployment in the area of 8th Avenue and E. 12th Street

On January 11, 2021, at about 1200 hours, Officers from the Oakland Police Department responded to 8th Avenue and E. 12th Street to conduct a follow-up on a recent homicide investigation.

On January 11, 2021, at about 1200 hours, Officers from the Oakland Police Department responded to 8th Avenue and E. 12th Street to conduct a follow-up on a recent homicide investigation. Officers arrived at the area and located a person who was believed to be involved in the crime. Additional officers and resources were dispatched for support. As officers contained the area, the suspect who was at his mobile home, pointed out what appeared to be a rifle at the officers.

The Oakland Police Department’s Tactical Operations Team along with the Armored Emergency Rescue Vehicle responded and relieved the field units who were involved in the attempted arrest. Negotiators established a dialogue with the suspect who eventually surrendered. The suspect was arrested without further incident and no physical force was used.

The mobile home was cleared and turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division for searching. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information should contact the Oakland Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
