Oakland, CA – With air quality remaining at “very unhealthy”
levels, the City’s shelter at St. Vincent de Paul—which has recently
expanded from a winter shelter to a year-round shelter—has beds
available for the homeless tonight.
In addition, St. Vincent de Paul is opening its doors tomorrow, Saturday, November 17, as an all-day drop-in respite center from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm for unsheltered residents looking for an indoor reprieve from unhealthy air quality.
The year-round shelter, located at 675 23rd Street in Oakland, operates seven-days a week with shelter beds available for up to 65 homeless Oakland and Emeryville adult men and women (no minors) through December 1, 2018, after which it will expand to a capacity of 100. Shelter doors open to clients by 6pm each evening and close by 8am in the morning.
Shelter beds can be secured through referral, reservation, and walk-up on a first come-first served basis. Persons seeking shelter should contact St.Vincent de Paul directly at (510) 638-7600.
