Sidewalk Pickup Available at 3 Additional Locations Starting Monday, July 13

Sidewalk pickup of books and additional library materials expands to eight (8) locations across Oakland July 13.

Oakland, CA — The Oakland Public Library (OPL) will offer sidewalk pickup of holds for books, DVDs, CDs, and Wi-Fi hotspots at three (3) additional locations starting Monday, July 13.

The new locations are Asian Branch, Brookfield Branch and Dimond Branch. Pickup at these locations will be available 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Indoor areas remain closed to the public.

Including these three new locations, OPL will be offering sidewalk pickup at a total of eight locations starting Monday, July 13:

  • Main Library (125 14th St.)
    • Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • 81st Ave. Branch (1021 81st Ave.)
    • Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Asian Branch (388 9th St.) (Starting July 13)
    • Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Brookfield Branch (9255 Edes Ave.) (Starting July 13)
    • Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • César E. Chávez Branch (3301 E. 12th St.)
    • Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Dimond Branch (3565 Fruitvale Ave.) (Starting July 13)
    • Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Rockridge Branch (5366 College Ave.)
    • Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • West Oakland Branch (1801 Adeline St.)
    • Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • All other locations remained closed.

Patrons will need to wait until they receive notification (through phone, email, or text) that their hold is ready in order to be able to pick up their materials at a sidewalk pickup location. Hold notices will start being deployed on Monday, July 13.

Outdoor book drops at all library branches are available for library materials to be returned. Staff will not accept returned library materials by hand and will direct patrons to return their materials to the outdoor book drops. OPL does not charge fines for overdue library materials.
