Suspect Arrested After Shooting at OPD Officer

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating an assault with a deadly weapon upon an officer.

On February 10, 2025, just before 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Seminary Avenue to investigate a multi-round ShotSpotter activation. At the same time, an OPD officer was investigating a separate incident.

While sitting inside their fully marked patrol vehicle, the officer on the scene heard gunshots and realized that their vehicle had been struck by gunfire. It appears that the officer may have been the intended target of the shooting. Thankfully, the officer was not physically injured.

This afternoon, an arrest was made in connection with the shooting due to the exceptional work of officers from OPD's Ceasefire Division and Special Resources Section (SRS) West.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department Felony Assault Unit at (510) 238-3426. If you have any videos or photos that could assist with the investigation, please send them to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.

OPD is committed to protecting our city and relies on the support of our community. Please report any suspicious activity to help ensure the safety of our residents and officers.
