Update on 400 Block of Grand Avenue Shooting

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) would like to provide an update on last week’s shooting on June 19, 2024, in the 400 block of Grand Avenue.

During the preliminary investigation, it was initially reported that 15 individuals were shot. Upon further investigation, we have now determined that 14 people were shot in that incident.

On the same evening, less than a half-hour following the shooting in the 400 block of Grand Avenue, officers were dispatched to a shooting incident that occurred in the area of 10th Avenue and E. 24th Street. Investigators have since learned that this incident was a double shooting, and one of the individuals was privately transported to a local hospital and was initially counted as the believed 15th victim in the earlier shooting.  Both of these individuals are expected to survive, and OPD has arrested two individuals in connection with this shooting.

This remains an ongoing investigation. We are asking our community members or anyone with information about either shooting to contact the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at (510) 238-3821 or the TIP LINE at (510) 238-7950.

Additionally, if you have any videos or photos that could assist with the investigation, please send them to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
