Update: Shooting in the 12200 block of Skyline Boulevard
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a shooting with multiple victims. The shooting occurred just before 7:45 p.m. on May 23, 2024, in the 12200 block of Skyline Boulevard.
During the preliminary investigation, officers learned that as people were leaving the graduation ceremony, two groups of people got into a fight in the school’s parking lot. As the altercation escalated multiple individuals were struck by gunfire. Initially, officers located two individuals at the scene who were later transported to an area hospital.
As the investigation progressed, officers located a third shooting victim at an area hospital. All three victims are expected to survive.
OPD officers detained multiple individuals and arrested one person. Investigators are actively looking for additional shooters and witnesses. We are asking our community members for assistance.
