In September 2023, The City of Oakland Department of Transportation (OakDOT), assisted by 360 Total Concept, formed the first cohort of a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to advise on community priorities and inform projects led by OakDOT’s Major Projects Division. Applications were distributed to over 30 community leaders and organizations in the neighborhoods in which MPD projects are located in. Ten members representing various stakeholder groups (i.e., advocacy organizations, chambers of commerce, neighborhood associations, business districts, faith-based, and trades) were selected to join the CAC. These individuals were selected based on their representation of the geographies that MPD projects are based in as well as for their deep knowledge of their communities. The CAC consists of 10 members who committed to a 7-month term as the projects’ community thought partners.
Committee’s main duties:
- Provide guidance to the City on the transportation needs and priorities of the community as it relates to the transportation projects being designed.
- Serve as ambassadors who share information to their network/members.
- Attend and participate in monthly meetings with the City.
