City of Oakland Race & Equity Municipal Code

There is established in the City government a Department of Race and Equity which shall be under the supervision and administrative control of the City Administrator. The powers, functions and duties of said Department shall be those assigned, authorized and directed by the City Administrator. The management and operation of the Department of Race and Equity shall be the responsibility of the Director of Department of Race and Equity who shall serve as Director of said agency, subject to the direction of the City Administrator.

Franklin Street Paving Project (2024)

This paving project, scheduled for Late 2024/Early 2025, will repurpose one travel lane on Franklin Street from 11th Street to Broadway to slow traffic, prioritize pedestrian safety, and improve safety for people biking northbound on Franklin Street.

Oakland Main Library Feasibility Study

The Oakland Public Library has embarked on a feasibility study to explore options for the expansion or relocation of the Oakland Main Library.

Cary Avenue Full Trash Capture Project

This project will install a large trash capture device in a storm drainage pipe in East Oakland, helping the City meet a regulatory requirement to reduce water pollution.

Facade and Tenant Improvement Program RFP

The City of Oakland’s Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) invites proposals from qualified service providers to administer and implement the Façade and Tenant Improvement Program (FTIP), which funds business and property owners to improve the exterior and/or interior of their commercial properties. The selected service provider will work with approximately 80 grantees that have already been issued grant award letters by the City and that have been designated for the second phase that will start in 2024, guiding them through the grant process, offering technical assistance, and facilitating reimbursement for approved construction projects.
