About

The City has awarded an on-call construction task order to McGuire & Hester to construct permanent repairs to the hillside and roadway at Tunnel Road and Bay Forrest Drive. The scope of work includes the construction of a new soldier beam and lagging retaining wall, installation of tiebacks beneath Tunnel Road, and minor storm drainage modifications. Before work on the permanent repairs begins, the contractor will install temporary shoring to ensure safe operation of the required heavy machinery. The total estimated construction duration for the permanent repair is 45 days. The construction schedule is currently being finalized with the contractor, and will be posted here when final. City staff will continue to regularly monitor the site.

Construction activities are anticipated to cause temporary impacts on local traffic but will be kept to the minimum necessary. A traffic control plan, developed by the contractor and approved by the City, will be shared here once available. Additionally, the contractor will notify neighborhood residents in advance of any construction activities.

Please note: Members of the public should not, under any circumstances, access or move the tarping or other materials in place to protect the site in advance of the repairs.
