This $10 million project involved complete renovation of the historic Studio One Art Center. Originally built as an orphanage in 1894, this unreinforced masonry building required extensive seismic reinforcement, new heating, ventilating, lighting, and plumbing systems, plus interior and exterior finish work. Construction was completed in April 2008. Contact: Project Manager Lily Soo Hoo (510) 238-6604

The long-range plan is to construct a 150,000 square foot facility at Ira Jinkins Park, in East Oakland. The complex would include an indoor pool, outdoor pool, gymnasium, and soccer fields. The first phase project, funded in part by $11 million from Measure DD, consists of 22,500 square feet of building space, with an indoor pool, locker rooms and restrooms, meeting rooms, an aerobics/dance studio, a learning center, and a fitness center.
