Bus Shelters and Street Furniture

The City has entered into agreement with Clear Channel Adshel to install and maintain illuminated advertising bus shelters, which include litter containers installed near bus shelters, as well as AC Transit-provided bus system information.

Clear Channel Adshel also installs and maintains 22 illuminated advertising kiosks that include City-provided information. All street furniture is required to be installed in commercial and downtown areas of the City or along bus routes in non-residential areas.

In order to install bus shelters, Clear Channel Adshel must submit permit applications to the City of Oakland Transportation Services Division. For information regarding permit applications, please contact Peter Chun, Transportation Engineer (510) 238-7774.

For street furniture (i.e. bus shelter) issues, please note that this program was transferred to the City's Dept. of Transportation on July 1, 2017. Please contact Michael Ford at MFord@oaklandca.gov for assistance.
